Self-Efficacy Definition

Mahatma Gandhi said: “If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning“. The essence of these words is the capacity and capability that allows us to accomplish something that is almost impossible though, only in the beliefs and how we perceive ourselves.
Behavioral science in terms of organization, known there are several self-perception. One of them is self-efficacy. Self-efficacy is one’s faith in its ability to solve a problem or task. High self-efficacy, encourage someone to increase his efforts in completing a difficult task and make it as a challenge which they must be mastered rather than as a threat that must be avoided. Conversely, someone with low self-efficacy always thought everything is difficult, beliefs like these can cause anxiety, stress, depression, and narrow-minded that it is difficult to resolve the issue properly.
The question now is where the arrival of self-efficacy is! Albert Bandura, a psychologist nationals of Canada claimed that self-efficacy comes from several factors: (1) Learning from successful experiences of myself. (2) successful experiences of others. which encourages us to think “if someone else can, why I do not”; (3) social persuasion, in the form of encouragement from people including verbal encouragement such as “come on you can”; (4) Sometimes when we are in a depressed will cause physiological disturbances such as abdominal pain, dizziness, trembling, and so on then we will assess as a result of our inability to face problems, and will automatically lose their confidence.
Although self-efficacy had a positive impact, but if not supported by appropriate knowledge and skills, it is possible to trap us in a state of over-confidence
